Shaw Capital Management | Harmonic 313 + Kode9 + Dorian Concept + King Midas Sound « Gigs and Tickets « SoundCrashMusic

For one night only Soundcrash is turning KOKO into the epicenter of bass heavy music and intricate rhythms with a line-up so stacked any of the 4 main artists on the bill are worth the admission price on their own! Live performances from the elusive King Midas Sound and the ridiculously talented Dorian Concept will go hand in hand with dj sets from the seminal Harmonic 313 and the genre defying Kode9. This one, as they say, is going to be a fucking blinder.
Mark Pritchard has been a hugely influential player in the Electronic scene for over a decade and still producing music that sits right at the forefront of everything that is good in dance music. His latest project sees him join forces with Steve Spacek to form Africa Hitech. Their soon to be released album ‘93 Million Miles’ on Warp Records is already gaining huge critical acclaim with its explosive fusion of juke, dancehall, dubstep and anything with a BIG bassline. Proof, if any was needed, that Mark Pritchard is still as relevant now as he always was. This is a rare chance to see the mighty  Mark pritchard under his Harmonic 313 guise as he tears up the KOKO system to the core.
Bass music’s most erudite voice, Steve Goodman, better known as Kode9, is the force behind Hyperdub records. Born as a webzine as Kode9 pursued a career as an academic and  pirate radio Dj, Hyperdub has been at the forefront of the underground dance scene since its inception. Never afraid to explore new sonic frontiers Hyperdub has brought to us artists of the caliber of Burial, Zomby or Ikonika; true trailblazers and originators who could not have asked for a better suited label on which to release their groundbreaking music. Tonight we have the pleasure of hearing what new music thrills Kode9’s restless mind through KOKO’s imperious sound system. Educate yourself.
Ninja Tune’s latest recruit Dorian Concept is up next with one of his fine live performances using his amazing Mini Korg skills to create his unique fusion of jazz, electronica and club music which always wow the devoted crowds. As a key member of Flying Lotus’ band, on keys he has gained many fans along the way and this show is the perfect setting to build on that reputation once more. His tears taste like pears.
King Midas Sound is a three piece consisting of Roger Robinson and Kiki Hitomi on vocals with producer Kevin Martin. Their 2009 debut “Waiting for You” was all about intimacy, released 2 years after Burial’s ‘Untrue’ it’s still rare to find albums packed with such intense and honestly exposed  feelings. King Midas Sound’s live show takes the album as a starting block and builds downwards and outwards, increasing the intensity as the band try to create a deep emotional resonance and space and a liminal connection with the audience. It’s seen them amaze and surprise  audiences wherever they’ve played. They follow up “Waiting for You” this year with an album of carefully curated remixes and revoicings by artists from across the musical spectrum.
Sprinkling the night with the future sounds of hip hop step forth Rinse Fm’s low frequency fetishist and hip hop fanatic Alexander Nut. Alexander has recently co-founded Eglo records with Floating Points so keep an ear out for unreleased gems in his set!
